Failed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney attacked Alabama Judge Roy Moore right after President Donald Trump backed More on Monday. Romney argued that having Moore in the U.S. Senate would amount to a stain on the GOP and the nation.

Romney tweeted on Monday, “Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes. No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity.”

President Donald Trump called Moore on Monday morning, offering his support to Alabama Senate candidate. Trump’s parting words were, “Go get them Roy.”

Romney condemned Moore’s sexual misconduct allegations in November and argued that Moore should drop out of the race. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker Paul Ryan also urged the Alabama Senate candidate to drop out, although McConnell dialed back his call for Moore to step aside on Sunday, arguing that Alabama voters should decide instead.

Romney will reportedly run for the open U.S. Senate seat in Utah after Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) announced that he will retire at the end of his term in 2018.

A CBS poll revealed that 54 percent of likely Alabama voters do not believe the allegations against Roy Moore. The same poll also has Roy Moore in the lead against his Democratic opponent Doug Jones, 49 to 43 percent.

Breitbart News reached out to Romney in the wake of the allegations alleged against Sen. Al Franken (R-MN) to see if he was similarly unfit to serve as a U.S. senator. The former presidential candidate has yet to weigh in on Franken’s allegations, yet he continues to condemn Moore.

President Donald Trump and former White House chief strategist Breitbart News executive chairman Steven K. Bannon reportedly want to block Mitt Romney from running for the open Utah Senate seat in 2018.

A source close to Bannon said that he would prefer current Sen. Hatch over Romney every time. The source told the Washington Examiner,  “If Steve had a choice between Orrin Hatch and Mitt Romney, he would pick Hatch 10 times out of 10.”

Judge Roy Moore responded to Romney in a tweet on Monday, “Either @MittRomney has lost his courage or he doesn’t care about truth anymore. Sad day! America’s reawakening was led by @realDonaldTrump, not you Mitt. #DefeatTheElite #DrainTheSwamp.”
