Law enforcement personnel have responded to an active shooter who is barricaded in an apartment complex in Panama City, Florida.

Witnesses report numerous shots being fired and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office believes the suspect is tied to a “suspicious death” uncovered earlier in the day:

WJHG-TV reports the suspect is barricaded near 23rd and Beck Avenue. There is one injury reported as a result of the shots fired and people are being urged to avoid the area.

Stores and nearby schools have been evacuated.

Panama City News Herald’s Eryn Dion reports flash grenades being deployed at the scene, which may indicate police are making entry in the apartment where the suspect is holed up.
