A shocking video released Monday showed the moment a driver smashed into a Florida toll plaza with such force that one of the passengers flew through the air before hitting the ground.
The video shows the driver of the car failing to slow down as the vehicle sped towards the toll booth on the Florida Turnpike before crashing into a barrier, rolling over, and sending a passenger flying several feet into the air.
WESH reported that the crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. on June 3 near the town of St. Cloud in Osceola County, Florida.
Debris from the car fell across the toll area upon impact and could be seen scattered across two toll lanes.
A few seconds after the crash, the driver walked out of his vehicle without assistance but with a visible limp.
Moments later, someone realized the passenger ejected from the vehicle had been lying motionless next to one of the toll booths.
Towards the end of the video, another passenger can be seen opening the door from the wrecked vehicle.
All five passengers survived the crash and went to a local hospital for treatment before being released. When a state trooper wrote his report on the crash, he noted that the driver of the vehicle seemed “fatigued.”
