House Dems Plot ‘Abolish ICE’ Legislation to End All Immigration Enforcement in U.S.

House Democrats are crafting legislation ahead of the 2018 midterm elections that would abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency — the sole law enforcement unit tasked with arresting and deporting criminal illegal aliens.

The Democrats’ “Abolish ICE” legislation, obtained by the Washington Post, reveals the extent to which the left-wing party is willing to take their immigration maximalism agenda to please big business donors and the open borders lobby.

Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) is authoring the legislation which would abolish ICE and then investigate the agency to establish whether or not ICE agents violated international law when arresting and deporting illegal aliens.

Pocan’s legislation, which has been circulated around to House Democrats, would set up a task force to review what ICE should be replaced with. In the meantime, no federal agency would be able to arrest and detain illegal aliens living across the United States. The Democrat plan would — at least temporarily — cease all interior enforcement of immigration.

Data for Progress co-founder Sean McElwee, a group that has coined the “abolish ICE” campaign, told the Washington Post of his delight with the Democrats’ plan to end immigration enforcement:

Now that we have a clear consensus that ICE must be abolished, it’s time for a discussion about a humane enforcement system. That means ending the criminalization of migration, creating a fast path to citizenship, limiting the scope of CBP’s enforcement and ending our inhumane immigrant detention system. The existence of the legislation proves that within the Democratic Party there is some interest in moving away from pandering to white supremacy.

For months, House and Senate Democrats have pushed for a 2018 midterm election platform of open borders. In the Senate, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has led the effort on legislation that would end all border and immigration enforcement across the U.S., as Breitbart News reported.

If Democrats had their way and ICE had been abolished five years ago, back in 2013, there would have been at least 1.64 million illegal aliens — many of whom are convicted criminals — released into U.S. neighborhoods and communities rather than being deported, as Breitbart News reported.

Americans — even Democrat voters — are by a vast majority opposed to abolishing ICE. In the latest Harvard/Harris Poll3-in-4 swing voters said they opposed the Democrats’ plan to end all immigration enforcement across the U.S.

Likewise, nearly 60 percent of Democrats said they do not want ICE to be disbanded.

Americans overwhelmingly support ending illegal immigration and reducing legal immigration levels, at which more than 1.5 million immigrants are admitted to the U.S. every year. The majority of swing voters say they oppose importing more foreign workers to compete against Americans for jobs.

Meanwhile, nearly two out of three Americans say they support reducing legal immigration, and more Americans prefer zero immigration to the U.S. to current legal immigration levels. More than four in nine black Americans in swing districts across the country say immigration has made life “worse” in America.
