HBO CEASES PRODUCTION ON ‘LUCK’ IN WAKE OF HORSE DEATHS

For a high-profile series headlined by a star like Dustin Hoffman and produced by the likes of Michael Mann and David Milch, this is an awfully extreme and rash decision. That said…

I’m no animal rights’ fanatic, but three horses dead in two years does sound like a systemic problem. And as someone who feels guilty when goldfish in my care die, I can’t say I wouldn’t have made the same decision.

JEREMY RENNER UP TO REPLACE JAKE GYLLENHAAL IN MOTOR CITY?

Jeremy Renner replacing Jake Gyllenhaal in anything is always a win for Hollywood and America.

’24′ MOVIE HITS PRODUCTION DELAY

All the crap that gets made, all the unwanted sequels and remakes, and this one can’t get off the ground.

We’ll see “Daredevil 2: The Quickening” first.

‘JOHN CARTER’ FANS DEMAND A SEQUEL, LAUNCH FACEBOOK CAMPAIGN

Well, then I suggest they get on Fandango and start buying a ton of tickets.

AN EARLIER OSCARS LOOKS LIKELY – JUST NOT FOR 2013

I have a plan to fix the Oscars, but no one will listen to me — make better movies and employ actors who aren’t assholes.

THE GREATEST TV DRAMA OF THE PAST 25 YEARS, ROUND TWO: ‘THE SOPRANOS’ VS. ‘THE SHIELD

Can you believe I’ve never seen “The Shield?” Don’t get me wrong, I want to, but unless it streams on Amazon or Netflix, I probably won’t.

TOM FELTON TO SEDUCE SHARON STONE

Like that’s difficult.

LAST NIGHT’S SCREENING

We’ve been streaming old episodes of “Emergency.” It’s the kind of show David Zucker mercilessly mocked, but I have to tell you, it’s compelling television and perfect escapism.
