2. LATEST BOND MOVIE ‘SKYFALL’ DELVES INTO BRITISH SPY’S TROUBLED PSYCHE:

“James Bond may be known as a suave ladies’ man with a license to kill, but the latest 007 movie ‘Skyfall’ delves into the character’s troubled psyche,” Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes said.

Mendes said he went back to the original novels written by author Ian Fleming to look at a more complex time in the British secret agent’s history, including his depression at being a killer, Sky News reported Monday.

“What Fleming created was a very conflicted character,” he told reporters in Istanbul, where the movie is currently shooting.

3. FRANCIS LAWRENCE CONFIRMED TO DIRECT ‘CATCHING FIRE

“Lionsgate, the cast, and filmmakers are all thrilled to have Francis Lawrence come on board as director of Catching Fire. Suzanne’s brilliant book is the intense story of the birth of the rebellion and Katniss’ emotionally charged journey as she takes on the mantle of the Mockingjay, and we all think Francis is the perfect director to bring the story to life,” said Erik Feig, Lionsgate’s President Of Production.

4. ‘MODERN FAMILY’ HONORED BY CATHOLIC GROUP

“Modern Family” — the show known for the gay marriage of Cameron Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett and, more recently, the foul-mouth tirade of child character Lily — received the Television Award at the 2012 CIMA Awards, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunday.

“This remains far and away the best prime-time sitcom: crisp and farcical, but very kind,” CIMA notes on its web site. “This fast-paced mockumentary perfectly captures the experience of parenthood.”

5. VIACOM CEO DEFENDS NICKELODEON’S NETFLIX DEAL AGAIN

Dauman pointed out that Netflix is in fewer than a quarter of U.S. households, and time spent on Nickelodeon content on Netflix is about 2 percent of the time spent on the Nickelodeon TV channel. The CEO said that this viewing “of course” is not “completely cannibalistic,” has promotional value and serves audiences on new platforms. And he highlighted that Nickelodeon only has “some library content” on the streaming service.

6. JULIE PACINO TO PRODUCE MARY PICKFORD BIOPIC

The producers are developing a feature (untitled for the moment) about Pickford’s life with a script from Josh Fagin. DeLia will direct. An early 2013 production start is being eyed.
