Springsteen Favored to Write New U.S. National Anthem

This is a great attention-getting headline, but not to worry, it’s merely a media-created poll and while Springsteen came in first, he only received 22% of the vote, just ahead of Dolly Parton, who nabbed 19%.

Of course, Springsteen would be an awful choice for this task. Simply put, he doesn’t believe in America. Oh, he believes in enjoying her freedoms and her corporate welfare, riches and tax breaks. But as someone who has been to about a dozen Springsteen concerts, I’ve heard the man say directly that his own idea of a National Anthem is Woody Guthrie’s protest song, “This Land Is Your Land.”

Back in the 80’s, during his “Born In the U.S.A” tour, Springsteen would introduce the song this way:

“This Land Is Your Land” is Guthrie’s direct rebuke of Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America” and American capitalism:

This Land Is Your Land” is one of the United States’ most famous folk songs. Its lyrics were written by Woody Guthrie in 1940 based on an existing melody, in critical response to Irving Berlin‘s “God Bless America“, which Guthrie considered unrealistic and complacent. Tired of hearing Kate Smith sing it on the radio, he wrote a response originally called “God Blessed America for Me”.[1] Guthrie varied the lyrics over time, sometimes including more overtly political verses in line with his sympathetic views of communism,[2] than appear in recordings or publications.

Though personally he’s a multi-millionaire who came from nothing to the heights of wealth and fame, Springsteen thinks the game is rigged for everyone else — probably because he thinks he’s better than everyone else and therefore he’s the only one who can do such a thing.

He’s also a corporate welfare hypocrite.

But most of all, he’s lost his mojo and his edge. Springsteen hasn’t produced any music of consequence since “The Rising” in 2002 and most everything he’s done since 1992 sounds exactly the same.

Springsteen is the very opposite of what an American is, he’s a Statist who worships at the altar of the all-powerful and mighty government.

In other words, he’s a sell-out to The Man.

No thanks.

My vote goes to George Jones.
