Trailer Talk: Forget Tarantino; "Seven Psychopaths" Razzles and Dazzles

Martin McDonagh of “In Bruges” fame is back after what felt like a much too long hiatus. “Seven Psychopaths” stars Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson and Tom Waits, and if that cast isn’t enough to pique your interest then please stop reading now.

Synopsis: A struggling screenwriter inadvertently becomes entangled in the LosAngeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends kidnap agangster’s beloved Shih Tzu.

Thoughts: There are few films that would be harder to follow up than McDonagh’s last directorial effort, “In Bruges,” but McDonagh may have done it if this trailer is any indication. “Seven Psychopaths” seems like it was written by Quentin Tarantino at midnight when he was drunk and out of his mind. That’s what is brilliant about McDonagh. He’s Tarantino if Tarantino were drunk and out of his mind ALL the time.

“Psychopaths” showcases a quirky story, some great dialogue and a cast only to be matched in awesomeness by perhaps an “Expendables” sequel. This one looks like a cursing, bloody and rude winner. If you find that description appealing, “Seven Psychopaths” hits theaters on October 12th.
