Trailer Talk: 'Bullet to the Head' Channels '90s Stallone Action

A trailer has finally landed online for director Walter Hill’s Sylvester Stallone action vehicle, “Bullet to the Head.”

Synopsis: After watching their respective partners die, a cop and a hitman form an alliance in order to bring down their common enemy.

Thoughts: “Bullet to the Head” looks a little less inspired than Stallone’s recent track record. The trailer gives off the same vibe that many of Stallone’s less-than-stellar ’90s flicks emitted. Kudos to Stallone if his goal is to now recapture his leading man status, but at 66 he’s much more interesting when he’s creating films that are a bit more contemplative or bigger in scale, i.e. “Rocky Balboa” or “The Expendables.”

The film’s trailer is all over the place. It’s trying to be serious in parts but a little too jokey in others. The tone doesn’t seem definitive judging solely by the trailer.

However, both Stallone and the film look slick and ready for action. With the great Hill behind the camera (in his first directorial effort in 11 years), there shouldn’t be too much to worry about… hopefully.

“Bullet to the Head” opens on February 1st, 2013.
