Funny or Die Targets Women for Romney

I stumbled upon a video titled “The Woman For Mitt Romney with Selma Blair” over at Funny or Die, Will Ferrell’s online home for humor.

The premise? There is only one woman in America dumb enough to vote for the Republican nominee. The woman in question is named Carolyn Overly (played by actress Selma Blair); a liberal stereotype of a typical Republican woman. In other words, an idiot.

“There are some people out there that want you to believe that Mitt Romney is unsympathetic to the problems we women face,” Blair begins.

She goes on to explain that it’s “simply not true.”

Overly attempts to explain why the arguments against Romney are false, but she’s unable to pronounce the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Instead she says, “Lilly Ledsomething, I don’t know act.”

“To those Jewish women, I say, I don’t want equal pay. I want my money to go toward getting rid of the Middle East. Those people are so angry.”

The next scene finds Overly in her kitchen. She’s got a pink hair net on, there’s a glass of wine on the counter where she’s rolling out some dough, and in the background there’s a conspicuously placed sign that reads: “FAITH.”

She starts talking about Romney wanting to cut off all funding for Planned Parenthood and says,; “I think using federal funds for Planned Parenthood is ludicrous. I don’t want my money to go towards babortions (that’s not a typo) or birth control. I hate the thought of a babortion and I hate making whoopee.”

This hateful parade of negative stereotypes of conservative women goes on for two minutes and 25 excruciating seconds, with Overly doing a variety of household chores while wearing slacks and pearls with a stupid grin on her face.

The video is loaded with the usual Democratic talking points you’d expect to be spewed by Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, only masquerading as humor.

It all culminates with Overly suddenly very pregnant and holding another baby (you know because Romney wants all women barefoot and pregnant) saying, “It’s simple, a vote for Mitt Romney is a vote against something I don’t like… ME!”

This hateful video encapsulates what the “tolerant” left really thinks of conservative women in general and women that are voting for Romney in particular, that they’re stupid and hate themselves. But there are two questions that this video really begs are; who the hell is Selma Blair? And does anyone really think this is funny?
