Rapper T.I. Says Will Smith Sought Obama's Help for Early Release

It helps to have friends who have friends in high places.

Rapper T.I. told Billboard magazine that one of the biggest stars in Hollywood sought President Obama’s help to spring him from jail. Will Smith, a major Obama supporter who talked up the president’s re-election while hosting a fundraiser in Obama’s honor, allegedly sought out Attorney General Eric Holder’s help on behalf of the trouble rapper.

Will actually went as far as getting in touch with [attorney general] Eric Holder and the Obama administration trying to see if we could get some kind of release. He was very politely told that was not possible. [laughs]”

T.I.’s list of legal woes include getting arrested on drug-related charges as well as on federal gun charges.
