Pete Townshend, Neocon? Rocker Wants America as World's Police Officer

Pete Townshend usually lets his guitar, smashed or unsmashed, do the talking.

But when The Who’s iconic singer/songwriter opened up on the subject of politics he shared some surprising points of view.

“I try and stay away from American politics because I’m a bit of a neocon,” The Who guitarist  recently told ABC News. “I’m not that popular with everybody.”

Townshend explained that he likes “the idea of America as the world’s police force.”

The news shouldn’t be too surprising. Townshend refused to allow hard-left filmmaker Michael Moore the use of the classic Who number “Won’t Get Fooled Again” for Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” documentary.
