'Newsroom,' 'Game Change' Globe Nods Latest Sign of Awards Season Liberal Bias

We’re living in a new golden age of television.

“Mad Men.” “Boardwalk Empire.” “Game of Thrones.” “Homeland.” “Breaking Bad.” “The Walking Dead.” “Girls.” “Boss.” “Copper.”

Yet the minds behind the Golden Globe nomination chose to select HBO’s “The Newsroom” as one of its best drama nominees. Conservatives understandably have trashed the show for its aggressive liberal bias, but mainstream critics found plenty to mock about the new series set in a modern day news center.

It’s not even a ratings monster. Far from it.

Nevertheless, “The Newsroom” is one of five shows vying for the semi-coveted Globe award. The same voters also selected HBO’s “Game Change” in the best television miniseries/movie category. “Game Change,” a clumsy, cartoonish assault on Gov. Sarah Palin riddled with falsehoods, scooped up five nominations in all, the most in the TV Globe category this year.

Liberal orthodoxy is rampant in the entertainment industry, but it’s also seen in which films, TV shows and music receive major awards. Today’s announcement simply reinforces that reality.
