DreamWorks, Participant Team to Bring Church Scandal Story to Big Screen

Participant Media makes movies that strive for “social change,” although the change in question typically comes from a left of center vantage point.

Think Promised Land, An Inconvenient Truth and Fair Game.

Now, the company is teaming up with a studio co-created by Steven Spielberg to tell a story many Christians will be loathe to hear anew.

DreamWorks Studios and Participant Media have acquired the feature film rights to the story of the church’s decades-long cover-up of the string of sexual abuse and damaged lives caused by pedophile priests in Massachusetts. The scandal was uncovered by a year-long investigation by the Boston Globe and eventually led to the resignation of Cardinal Bernard Law.
