'Hating Breitbart' Scores with New Media Release, Outsells Doc by Ken Burns

It’s the kind of New Media victory Andrew Breitbart would have predicted–and loved.

Hating Breitbart, director Andrew Marcus’s film chronicling the late media pioneer’s deconstruction of biased news outlets, debuted in the third slot at Amazon.com’s hot new documentaries category, beating out new releases by The Rolling Stones, Rihanna and Ken Burns. The R-rated version of the film came in at #12 in the category of best-selling documentary DVDs at Amazon.com.

The popular iTunes destination featured the film at #6 in the top-selling documentary category, edging out A History of the Eagles.

“Andrew lived in the world of online media and we knew that was going to be our area of greatest strength. To open at #3 is a thrill,” Marcus said in a statement.

“We wanted to capture Andrew as he was: loud, passionate and occasionally profane when he saw hypocrisy in the mainstream media,” noted Marcus. “But we also wanted to make sure that all Americans can see what a fascinating man he was and why his messages of media corruption and the rising tide of citizen journalism are even more important today than when he passed away.”
