In the summer of 2012, Oprah Winfrey, noting that her new television network was struggling, pulled back from her work as she realized she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Winfrey’s realization came when she was interviewing Jason Russell, the director of the documentary KONY 2012, who spoke of his own breakdown in which he was in the street naked and ranting. Winfrey figured out that the feelings she was experiencing from the stress of her network, OWN, failing were akin to Russell’s and thus she backed away from her workload.
