Fox Seals Deal to Bring Long-Form Journalism to Big Screen

The film studio 20th Century Fox is getting into journalism via the cineplex.

The company joined forces with the online platform Epic to create “film-centric, investigative long-form journalism,” the kind media outlets once cranked out with regularity.

Deadline.com’s report doesn’t necessarily say the results of this deal with yield documentary projects. Once narrative elements enter a story, the project’s truth comes into question. Dramatic demands often have precedence over journalistic facts.

The deal connects to recent films inspired by news articles like Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Argo and the upcoming Coronado High.
