'Justified' Star Nick Searcy Praises Elmore Leonard's 'Dynamic, Unique' Voice

Nick Searcy has one of the best roles on television–the crusty but caring Art Mullen on FX’s Justified.

The show is part of Elmore Leonard’s artistic legacy, one which won’t end with the author’s passing yesterday at 87.

Searcy shared his thoughts on Leonard’s work with Breitbart News, mourning the loss of a creative giant.

“One of the most prolific, dynamic, and unique voices in American literature has been silenced. Elmore Leonard’s brilliant sense of humor and attention to the nuance of daily conversation made playing Art Mullen a pleasure. I am honored to have had the chance to meet him and to be a small part of one of the many worlds he created in Justified.”

The critically hailed show is based on a Leonard short story, Fire in the Hole. Leonard was an unabashed fan of the series and later wrote a novel-length story, Raylan, continuing the character’s life in print.
