Trailer Talk: 'Homefront' Uses Sylvester Stallone's Words, Jason Statham's Muscle

Here’s a match I bet you never saw coming: Jason Statham vs. James Franco.

Well, it’s here whether you asked for it or not. Check out the trailer for Homefront below and some thoughts afterwards.

Statham has been maturing as an actor in his recent action roles and Homefront looks no different. It’ll be interesting to see Statham show some more layers and, of course, infuse that with his usual butt-kicking talents.

Franco isn’t really menacing standing next to Statham, but he looks like he’ll be an interesting villain for a film like this. Franco plays a meth dealer destined to duel with an undercover cop (Statham).

Homefront is based on a novel by Chuck Logan and is written and produced by Sylvester Stallone. The lead role was reportedly originally intended for him. Homefront looks like a kick ass, good old all-American action movie with a fish out of water story to bring it all together.

It may seem a little typical and like many action films before it, but here’s hoping Homefront and Statham bring enough new to the table to justify us spending our 10 bucks.

Homefront hits theaters on Thanksgiving Day, 2013.
