Oprah: To End Racism, Racists Have to Die Out

In an interview with the BBC about her film The Butler, Oprah Winfrey explained that the only way for racism to disappear would be for racists to all die. After explaining to the British outlet that President Obama faced disrespect due to his race – “There’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs…in some cases and maybe even may cases because he’s African American,” she said – she continued by explaining that generations of Americans had “marinated” in racism.

She stated, “There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.”

Oprah has been routinely invoking racism during her tour regarding The Butler, even going so far as to allegedly fabricate a racial incident overseas in which an employee of a high fashion store refused to show her merchandise due to her race. She has not spoken at length about racism across Europe, which manifests routinely but is largely unimportant to the American left.
