Phil Robertson: I Will Not Apologize for Quoting Bible

Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson says the comments he made that led to his suspension from the hit A&E show were nothing more than a recitation of Scripture, and he will not apologize for what the Bible says.

According to The Daily Mail, during a December 22nd Bible study, Robertson spoke of the media firestorm and his subsequent suspension by A&E: “I love all men and women. I am a lover of humanity, not a hater.”

He then doubled-down on his GQ comments by telling those gathered for the study that God created marriage for a man and a woman: “Adam was made and Eve was made for this reason.” He said a man and a woman leave mothers and fathers to “become one flesh” because that’s what marriage is all about.

Robertson said people criticize these words by treating them as descriptions of an “outdated stereotype.” However, Robertson added, there is nothing outdated about them: “When you look back at the human race our sins have always been the same: We get high, we get drunk, we get laid, we steal and kill.”

He told those gathered for the study that he is “just reading what was written over 2000 years ago. Those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom.” He also said the statements for which A&E suspended him were just Scripture: “All I did was quote from the Scriptures, but they just didn’t know it.”

On December 18th, Robertson was “indefinitely” suspended after quoting 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 in response to a GQ writer who asked him about his faith.
