War on Terror Hero Jack Bauer Returns in '24' Reboot this May

The highly-acclaimed and hugely popular FOX series 24 is returning to television with a 12-part series called 24: Live Another Day starting May 5.

Kiefer Sutherland returns as Jack Bauer, the role he played from 2001 to 2010, accompanied by Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe and former regulars Kim Raver and William Devane. The first show of the season will run two hours, followed by one-hour episodes starting May 12.

Sutherland, speaking at the Television Critics Association winter meeting on Monday, said, “I’m about as anxious and wound up as I’ve been in a long time. There’s a great impetus for all of us to create something new with the show.”

The series will look as it did before, with split screens and story lines weaving through each other, and will be shot in London. The action commences four years after the end of 24’s final season, as the CIA will be tracking down Bauer.

Sutherland said, “Things will be blowing up–cars, double decker buses, things like that. I’m sure we’ll be hated by a large portion of London for snarling up their traffic here and there, and for that I apologize in advance.”

Oscar nominee Judy Davis and Yvonne Strahovski of Dexter and Chuck fame will also join the cast.

Rajskub said, “I have a lot of people who refuse to call me anyone but Chloe. I never thought `24′ would come back and in this format.”

Sutherland said of a prospective 24 feature film, “If this (the new series) ends up rebooting the show or causing a film to be made, so be it,” adding that a film would be “very, very different … The film is sort of an ongoing situation.”
