'Breaking Bad' Star Appears in Neophyte Filmmaker's Movie Short

Fledgling filmmakers are often forced to cast actors just as green as they are.

Brandon Polanco got luckier than most. His new short stars Breaking Bad award-winner Bryan Cranston.

Writer’s Block,” a 13-minute short film starring Cranston, was directed by a self-taught, 20-something production assistant, on Cranston’s request. During a break in filming “Cold Comes the Night” last year, Cranston told the film’s PAs that he would read scripts from each of them and act in his favorite.

Polanco’s vision sold Cranston on the project, and the resulting black and white video is now the director’s impressive calling card.
