Obama Must Weigh in on Drive to Deport Justin Bieber

President Barack Obama now has one more item on his overloaded plate–consider the legal status of Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber.

The teen idol keeps getting himself mixed up in tabloid-worthy jams, and last week’s charges on resisting arrest and DUI put an exclamation mark on his troubles.

The high-profile arrest sparked a petition drive at WhiteHouse.gov seeking to deport the “dangerous … destructive” singer for his unsavory actions. The petition needed just six days to reach the 100,000 threshold, meaning the Obama administration must now weigh in on the matter. Here’s what the petition held against Bieber:

We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive and drug-abusing Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people, but he is also a terrible influence on our nation’s youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.

The Washington Times reports
that it could take some time before a decision is rendered. For now, he will likely stay in the U.S. enjoying a right other artists routinely enjoy.

Mr. Bieber is not in the U.S. on a green card, which signals legal permanent residency, but rather on a special visa given to actors, musicians, academics and other high-profile individuals the government deems to be important visitors.
