Oscar snubs are part of the annual Academy Awards tradition. Which actor or actress got denied a nomination?
Snubbing an actor who didn’t make the Oscar ceremony’s “in memoriam” segment is another matter.
Sunday’s telecast paid tribute to a number of major artists we lost over the past 12 months, including James Gandolfini, Paul Walker and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Yet Tom Clancy, the military novelist whose work inspired several blockbuster films including The Hunt for Red October, wasn’t mentioned. Nor was Cory Monteith, the troubled young star of TV’s Glee who died from drug-related causes last year.
Monteith was known primarily for his TV work, but the actor did star in several feature films including Monte Carlo, Final Destination 3 and Deck the Halls.
Dennis Farina, who starred in dozens of films during his impressive screen career, didn’t get mention. Neither did the following actors: Ralph Waite, Michael Ansara, Ruth Duccini, Milo O’Shea, Jean Stapleton, Roger Hill, Eric Lawson, Maxine Stuart and Alicia Rhett.
