Lena Dunham Hired to Pen Reality TV Storyline for Archie Comics

Archie Comics wanted to update its image, so it’s aligned with Girls star Lena Dunham for a new story arc.

Dunham, an unabashed supporter of President Barack Obama, will write a four-issue storyline which finds the Archie girls meeting up with some reality TV stars.

I was an avid Archie collector as a child — conventions, first editions that l kept in plastic sleeves, the whole shebang,” Dunham said in a press release. “It has so much cultural significance but also so much personal significance, and to get to play with these beloved characters is a wild creative opportunity.

The venerable comic book series has been given a makeover in recent years, including the addition of a gay character into the town of Riverdale.

Dunham also co-wrote the unsuccessful indie film Nobody Walks in addition to creating her HBO series.
