Wayne Knight, the actor best known for playing the meddlesome Newman on Seinfeld, is alive and well. Yet news of the actor’s “death” went viral earlier today all the same.
Knight became the latest celebrity targeted by online pranksters when a site pretending to be US Weekly magazine reported he had been killed in a car crash.
The character actor quickly crushed the faux item, using his Twitter account to say he was in good health but bemused to suddenly be trending online.
Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez! Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn’t know you cared. Glad to be breathing!

Other celebrities who prematurely “passed” include Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Jon Bon Jovi and Celine Dion.
