Studio Uses LA Quake to Promote 'Godzilla' Reboot

The marketing gurus at Legendary took a page out of Rahm Emanuel’s playbook.

The former Obama administration official once declared, “you never want to let a serious crisis go to waste.”

Legendary took advantage of today’s 4.4 earthquake in the L.A. area to promote its upcoming feature, Godzilla. Here’s the Tweet Legendary sent out earlier today after the City of Angels endured a geographic shuffle, according to Business Insider.

Breaking news: 4.7-magnitude #earthquake has just hit LA… Looks like #Godzilla is stomping into town ahead of schedule.

The account may have taken down the tweet. As of 5:45 p.m. EST today the tweet wasn’t found on its Twitter page.

Godzilla, the second American reboot of the monster movie franchise, stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen. The film opens May 16.
