NEW YORK, June 9 (UPI)–John Oliver decided it would be worth “mildly irritating” Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by having Right Said Fred perform an anti-Assad version of their hit song “I’m Too Sexy.”
The decision came after Oliver ripped al-Assad on his show Last Week Tonight for having “the musical taste of a 14-year-old girl from Orange County” after finding “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO on his iTunes playlist.
Assad is accused of being responsible for hundreds of thousands of Syrian deaths during their three-year civil war.
“Would it really be worth all that time and expense just for the momentary catharsis of mildly irritating one of the worst people on the planet?” he mused.
As an answer, he had Right Said Fred perform “You’re too Awful” as a message to Assad to stop listening to their music.
