Rihanna Says She Didn't Mean to Send #FreePalestine Tweet

LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI)–Rihanna came under fire on Twitter after tweeting — and later deleting — “#FreePalestine” Tuesday Morning.

While the singer has failed to explain the situation herself, a source told TMZ that, “She deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted.”

The insider added that Rihanna “didn’t even realize it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans.”

The “Diamonds” singer was reportedly reading an article on the situation on the Middle East when she clicked on a link. Eight minutes later she started getting tweets from her fans and deleted the post.

Israel and the Palestinians have technically been at war since 1948 over territorial and religious issues, and tensions have often flared into all-out violence, most recently in the past few weeks.

Another insider told the gossip site that the hit maker is not pro-Palestine or pro-Israel, but rather “pro peace.”

“She doesn’t want innocent people dying,” added the source.
