Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Assault, Attorney Says He's Been 'Punished Severly'

Chris Brown, who originally claimed that he was innocent, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge for punching a man outside of a hotel last October.

The singer reportedly became angry when the alleged victim tried to interrupt a fan photo operation that was underway between Brown and two females.

The “These Hoes Ain’t Loyal” rapper was already on probation from a previous incident in which he struck his then-girlfriend, Rhianna, in the face after she became flustered upon the discovery of a text message from another woman.

His attorney recently stated that his client has suffered enough punishment, from a short sentence in a California jail to a four-month inpatient counseling session.

“To say that he’s been punished severely in this matter is an understatement,” he said.

He also urged that his client’s career has been greatly affected by the violent episodes, and that Brown now wants to “take responsibility for his actions” so that he can get back to making records.

Brown apparently had no criminal history prior to his attack on Rhianna.

In 2011, Chris Brown smashed a window out of his dressing room after he was confronted about his altercation with Rhianna during an interview with GMA

In 2012, he was accused of theft after grabbing a woman’s phone out of her hands in Miami.

That same year, the “FAME” rapper suffered minor injuries from a fight at a New York night club. Two women were reportedly injured too.

Rap music producer Suge Knight was shot six times at Brown’s pre-VMA party last month.

Prosecutors will ask the judge for “time served,” since the Grammy winner has come forth with the allegations.

“I would like to say to the court, I’m sorry,” Brown apologized.
