New Zealand superstar Lorde had nothing but kind words to say about Cuban rapper Pitbull after the two met backstage at Sunday night’s American Music Awards in Los Angeles.
In a tweet posted before the show, Lorde said meeting the rapper was “not dissimilar” to meeting another famous, influential individual.

“also i met pitbull backstage, felt this wave of his charisma and loveliness wash over me, probably not dissimilar to meeting the president,” Lorde tweeted Sunday afternoon.
Lorde was nominated for four awards at the ceremony, which was hosted by Pitbull, including nods for Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Album, and Favorite Artist in Alternative Rock.
While she failed to win any of the awards, she did perform her hit song “Yellow Flicker Beat,” which she wrote for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part I soundtrack.
