“Whether you regard the examples above as creepy lechery or benign flirting, this way of communicating is a part of David Letterman’s legacy,” writes author Rich Juzwiak, who goes on to link several articles revisiting Letterman’s trysts with employees that brought one former staffer to admit the show’s set had become a “hostile work environment.”
