West coast Rapper The Game was taken into police custody Monday, for allegedly punching an off-duty police officer in the face during an altercation earlier this year.

Legally named Jayceon Terrell Taylor, the Dr. Dre protégé turned himself in at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood division early Monday afternoon, an officer with the L.A.P.D. confirmed to NBC LA.

Taylor was playing a game of pick-up basketball with the officer on March 29 at the Hollywood High School gym, when the 35-year-old “Switch Lanes” rapper allegedly punched the man.

There was no explanation given for the long delay, and The Game reportedly posted $50,000 bail within the hour of his arrest and was released.

On Monday, prior to his arrest, the rapper posted an image on his official Instagram page of himself squatting outside the LAPD’s Hollywood station.
