Bungie’s first-person shooter Destiny will receive an expansion titled The Taken King on September 15 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. The expansion makes significant changes, raising the level cap, changing the loot system, focusing on new gear while leaving old items behind, and recasting the voice of Ghost.

Bungie has increased the level cap to 40 and will no longer tie advanced leveling to the Light rating of high-powered gear. They have also varied the loot system to more often reward players with new gear they haven’t received before, cutting down on duplicate loot drops. Destiny’s current legendary items will not grow in power in The Taken King; gamers will soon find their gear outranked by newer items with higher attack and defense stats.

Nolan North will also replace Peter Dinklage as the voice behind floating mini-robot Ghost, including re-recording all existing dialogue for the game’s character.

North said, “You want to give [Ghost] as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.” He also remarked, “It’s interesting, because at one point they find another Ghost that’s been killed. A Ghost is not just something that can be turned back on. It has an idea of ending. It understands mortality. It has a vested interest in helping you succeed.”
