Westboro Baptist Church members who were protesting a Foo Fighters concert in Kansas City, MO were “Rickrolled” by front man Dave Grohl and the rest of the band Friday.

The hate group was protesting the band with signs such as, “God Hates Fags,” and “God Loves Dead Soldiers,” when prior to the start of the show, the Foo Fighters mobilized for a response.

The band drove up to the Sprint Center in the back of a pick-up truck playing Rick Astley’s 1987 single “Never Gonna Give You Up,” which has been the centerpiece of the Internet gag “Rickrolling” since 2007.

(“Rickrolling” occurs when someone clicks on a link, generally on YouTube, only to be redirected to the Astley song.)

The Foo Fighters were brandishing signs such as “Keep it Clean” and “You Got Rick Roll’d,” as a group of fans forced their way through the protesters.

A Twitter account associated with the church later posted, “Did @FooFighters just #rickroll us? Oh well!”

In case you’ve never been “Rickrolled,” here is the basic premise of the joke:
