Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has nominated Bruce Jenner to light the Olympic Cauldron for the 2024 Summer games, should the event be held in Southern California.

Being asked to light the cauldron carries great prestige, and Garcetti told TMZ he can’t think of a better candidate to embody what our nation stands for on a global scale, per the site.

While Garcetti argues the games would be a huge money-maker for Los Angeles, City analysts warn construction for athlete housing may significantly exceed the projected $1 billion cost, reports ABC.

“I think it’s much, much more probable that we’ll have a lot of revenue sources that come from this than worrying about the loss,” said Garcetti.

Jenner will follow in the footsteps of Muhammad Ali, Wayne Gretzky, and countless affluent athletes around the world if Los Angeles wins the bid against Paris, Rome, and Hamburg.
