Daniel Fleetwood, the terminally ill Star Wars super-fan who was treated to an advanced screening of The Force Awakens a week ago, has died of cancer.
Ashley Fleetwood, Daniel’s wife, announced the news on her Facebook page Tuesday.
“Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force,” she wrote. “He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero.”
“Please hug uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace my love. This was the last selfie we ever took together. #forcefordaniel,” she added, posting this photo:
Ashley started an online campaign last month, using the hashtag #ForceForDaniel, out of fear her husband wouldn’t make it until the Dec. 18 release of the Star Wars sequel.

Daniel, 32, suffered from spindle cell sarcoma, and was told in July he only had two months to live.
The campaign was endorsed and shared on social media by fans and even actors of the Star Wars franchise, and Ashley revealed last week that Disney had granted her husband his dying wish.
“Daniel just finished watching an unfinished version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!!!” She wrote on Facebook on Nov. 5. “We would like to thank the awesomely talented [director] JJ Abrams for calling us yesterday to tell us Daniel was getting his wish granted!”
