The always outspoken Rose McGowan is speaking out against Bruce Jenner, who after transitioning to Caitlyn this summer, has controversially been named “Woman of the Year” by Glamour magazine.

McGowan penned an open letter on her Facebook page Monday, which has since been deleted, to comment on Jenner’s joke that the “hardest part about being a woman is figuring out what to wear.”

“Caitlyn Jenner you do not understand what being a woman is about at all,” McGowan wrote. “You want to be a woman and stand with us – well learn us. We are more than deciding what to wear. We are more than the stereotypes foisted upon us by people like you.”

McGowan then added, “Woman of the year? No, not until you wake up and join the fight. Not by a long f*cking shot.”

The actress also posted a variation of memes with Jenner’s quote attached to images of women being sexually abused, being followed home at night, and another of a woman giving birth, the Daily Mail reports.

Another image was of a severely bruised Nicole Brown Simpson, O.J. Simpson’s late wife, who was also best friends with Jenner’s ex-wife Kris.

“You’re a woman now?” McGowan asked. “Well f*cking learn that we have had a VERY different experience than your life of male privilege.”

McGowan isn’t the only one outraged over Jenner’s award.

James Smith, the husband of a heroic New York police offer who died on 9/11 and posthumously received the “Woman of the Year” award from Glamour magazine in 2001, returned his wife Moira’s award this week to protest the magazine’s decision to present the same honor to Jenner.

Smith explained his decision to return the award in a post on Facebook:

I was shocked and saddened to learn that Glamour has just named Bruce Jenner ‘Woman of the Year.’ I find it insulting to Moira Smith’s memory, and memory of other heroic women who have earned this award. Was there no woman in America, or the rest of the world, more deserving than this man? At a time when we have women in the Armed Forces fighting and dying for our country, heroic doctors fighting deadly diseases, women police and firefighters putting their lives on the line for total strangers, brave women overcoming life threatening diseases…the list of possibilities goes on…is this the best you could do?

Glamour stood by its decision to honor Bruce, and released a statement saying they recognize “women with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.”

Nicole Russell of The Federalist also slammed the publication for endorsing the notion that men are better at being women than women are, writing: “Apparently real women can’t cut it, so we’ve got to import men into our ranks to win awards.”

“Jenner might feel like he is a woman, he might want to be a woman, he might be a living as a woman, but thoughts do not generate biology or reality,” Russell noted.

Jenner was invited as a keynote speaker to represent the transgender community at an event in Chicago last week, but was met by a group of protestors upon exiting the event.

“You are an insult to trans people,” one protestor yelled. “You are an insult to women… You have no right to represent us.”
