Tina Fey stars as a journalist in way over her head in war-torn Afghanistan and Pakistan in the first trailer for next year’s Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
Fey stars in the based-on-a-true-story film as journalist Kim Barker, who embedded with the American military in Kabul in 2002. Once there, she meets fellow journalist Tanya (Margot Robbie), who attempts to school her in the art of covering war.
Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina, Martin Freeman, Nicholas Braun, and Josh Charles co-star.
Veteran TV writer Robert Carlock (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) penned the script off of Barker’s 2012 memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Focus, Bad Santa) co-direct.
