Two days after the death of her husband René Angélil, singer Céline Dion is mourning the loss of her brother, who died Saturday after a long battle with cancer.

Daniel Dion, 59, died surrounded by his family, according to an obituary released by the family. He had been battling brain, throat, and tongue cancer, PEOPLE magazine reported.

“They’re close, she’s close with all of her siblings,” a source told the magazine of the pop diva’s relationship with Daniel. “It’s hard.”

Daniel’s death was announced less than a day after PEOPLE first reported his condition was deteriorating, and two days after the death of Céline’s husband, René Angéli, who lost his battle with throat cancer on Thursday.

Céline and Angélil were married for more than 20 years and had three children together.

The couple had been living together in Las Vegas, NV where Dion is performing a multi-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace.

Céline was said to have been in Las Vegas with her children making plans for Angélil’s funeral when her brother passed away.

Angélil’s funeral will be held next Friday at Montreal’s Notre Dame Basilica.

Daniel will be honored at a service later this month in the family’s home town of Charlemagne, Québec.

Daniel was one of Dion’s 13 siblings.
