Gavin Newsom Defends Ke$ha; Hits Clinton?

On Wednesday, in what could be construed as a subtle hit on Hillary Clinton, California’s Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted his support for Ke$ha, the performer who has claimed Dr Luke, who ran the record label featuring her, psychologically tormented her and raped her after drugging her.

The logical inference to be drawn from Newsom’s defense of Ke$ha be that Newsom ought to defend others who have made similar assertions–such as Bill Clinton’s alleged victims, including Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, and Paula Jones.

Of course, Ke$ha has given evidence over the years of her distance from normalcy; the singer has drunk her own urine on a reality TV show, and claimed “Ghosts haunt my vagina.” Still, her craziness has no bearing on the validity of her claims against Dr. Luke.

Newsom has attempted to put some distance between himself and Clinton before; in November he warned she was “taking a big risk” by concentrating on gun control. His prior history with the Clintons told a different story: Bill Clinton endorsed Newsom in his 2003 mayoral race, and Newsom served as a national co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Newsom’s own record with women is spotty; he had an affair with the wife of his re-election campaign manager in 2005.
