Snoop Dogg will play the role of peacemaker after what’s expected to be a contentious Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia in July.
The 44-year-old Doggfather rapper will host a “unity party” on July 28, the last night of the Democrat convention, at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, according to a press release from Democrat super PAC Priorities USA.
Priorities USA is hosting the event along with Democrat super PACs Senate Majority PAC and House Majority PAC.
The party is presumably meant to bring together supporters of likely Party nominee Hillary Clinton and those of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders after a long primary season that often pitted each candidates’ backers against one another.
Snoop — real name Calvin Broadus — made up his mind early in the 2016 presidential race as to who he will support in the fall.
“You know, I like to be politically correct, but sometimes I’m politically incorrect. But I’ll say that I would love to see a woman in office because I feel like we’re at that stage in life to where we need a perspective other than the male’s train of thought,” the rapper told Bravo’s Andy Cohen in an episode of Watch What Happens Live in May of last year.
“And just to have a woman speaking from a global perspective as far as representing America, I’d love to see that. So I’ll be voting for Ms. Clinton,” Snoop added.
Priorities USA also announced that rock band Los Lobos would perform in Philadelphia some time earlier in the week, though the date and time of that performance was not disclosed.
