Pop phenomenon Rihanna has been selected to play Marion Crane, the iconic role made famous by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, in the final season of A&E’s Bates Motel.

The creators and executive producers of the hit show, Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse, made the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con, breaking the news herself.

The 28-year-old singer is apparently a huge fan of the A&E suspense drama. She sent a video message during the weekend, revealing her new role.

“Hello Comic-Con! It’s bad girl Rih Rih, and let me tell you what the bad b*tch is about to do,” Rihanna said in the brief video clip. “I’m about to check into the Bates Motel very soon,” announced Rihanna, adding, “Guess what else? Guess who’s playing Marion?”

“We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate,” Cuse and Ehrin said in a statement.

Rihanna is currently headlining The Anti World Tour, the singer’s seventh concert tour since breaking onto the music scene in 2003.

To date, the Barbados-born singer has 16 acting credits to her name. Rihanna is also set to star in the upcoming sci-fi movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which hits theaters July 21, 2017.

Bates Motel is scheduled to air in 2017.
