Obama on ESPN: Original Dream Team Better Than 2012 Version

Always eager to leap before an unattended camera, President Obama took advantage of a trip to the Verizon Center for a USA-Brazil pre-Olympic basketball game to give ESPN his opinion on the 1992 vs. 2012 Dream Team. “This is a generational thing,” said Obama. “I was around in ’92. I was a Bulls fan. I’ve gotta go with the original Dream Team.” At least this time, he knew that the Chicago Bulls were a team. Last time he was at a Chicago White Sox game, he couldn’t name a single player.

Obama’s vital commentary on the Dream Team follows hard on the heels of his television appearances at the World Series, Super Bowl, Major League All Star Game, Final Four, The Tonight Show, The View, The Late Show, and the Little Miss Arkansas Pageant. Actually, he didn’t do the Little Miss Arkansas Pageant – but only because Arkansas isn’t a swing state.

Obama’s a smart campaigner; he’s trying to humanize himself. Give him props for that. But he’s also someone oddly fascinated by himself in the lens.
