Reuters Goes on Offense Against Romney's Stimulus Attacks

In an article that was ostensibly about Mitt Romney’s attack on Obama in which he said Obama’s crony capitalism “stinks,” Reuters took every chence to make its preferences known.

The article starts by saying, “Romney’s allegation that Obama gave too much economic stimulus money to campaign contributors is not new but the Republican’s focus on the issue looked like an effort to move away from tough questions about his business past.”

Really. So now Reuters thinks any attack Romney makes on Obama must be a counteroffensive because he’s frightened of tough questions? Reuters did not use the same language with regard to Obama’s Bain attacks, although Obama had been under increasing fire for poor unemployment numbers prior to the Bain attacks.

Then the article somehow changes venues, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where Romney made his statement, to … Ohio. Seriously. The article quotes a retired schoolteacher at an Obama campaign event in Ohio, who Reuters somehow managed to find so she could say of Romney’s rhetoric, “It’s getting kind of ugly, worse than I’ve ever seen. But I don’t think it’s going to stop.”

Well, what the hell. Let’s just do a random search and find someone who’ll do an ad hoc attack on Romney. At an Obama rally.

Finally, Reuters quotes Obama: “There is a new study by non-partisan economists that says Governor Romney’s economic plan would in fact create 800,000 jobs. There is only one problem. The jobs wouldn’t be in America.” Reuters said he was “poking fun” at Romney.

So Obama’s just a lighthearted upbeat guy while Romney is a frightened, dark soul who wants to suck the blood of American workers. It’s good to know Reuters is on the job.
