Last night I fact checked President Obama’s answers on Operation Fast & Furious during a Univision town hall. I’m happy to see ABC News reporter Jake Tapper did the same thing.

Mr. Tapper is one of two journalists (the other is CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson) who still have integrity and put their politics aside to do their job. He wrote an article this morning correcting President Obama.

During the town hall President Obama claims Fast & Furious started under the previous administration.

“I think it’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration,” the president said. “When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned a inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued, confirming that in fact Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and the people who did initiate this were held accountable.”

Mr. Tapper correctly points out Fast & Furious started in the fall of 2009, 9 months after President Obama was sworn in. There were other gun walking operations under President Bush, but Fast & Furious was not one of them.

Kudos to Mr. Tapper. Thank you for being a voice of reason.
