Media Matters Throwing Menendez to the Wolves?

The far left-wing advocacy organization Media Matters for America has not written a single post defending New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez since this reporter broke the sex scandal that’s crashing down on him in early November.

A search of the group’s website shows they haven’t mentioned Menendez since April 12, 2012. Media Matters describes itself as a “not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.”

This reporter first broke the story on November 1, 2012–before the election. In the past three months, Media Matters has not said a word about it on its website nor are there any other mentions of Menendez.

It is unclear why Media Matters has not responded to the scandal. Spokeswoman Jess Levin hasn’t answered a Breitbart News request for comment.

An April 12 post–the final one from Media Matters about Menendez in a year he was up for re-election–came three days after the original source, who goes by “Peter Williams,” reached out to the self-described watchdog organization Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), which ignored the story until last month.
