Poll: Media Bias to Blame for Absence of Gosnell Coverage

A Fox News poll released Thursday reveals voters think media bias is behind the lack of coverage of the Kermit Gosnell murder trial.

Gosnell is the Philadelphia abortionist accused of murdering babies born alive, along with 41-year-old patient Karnamaya Mongar. The defense rested on Wednesday, and closing arguments are expected to take place on Monday.

Breaking down the results, 41% of respondents think there is a pro-abortion bias in the media, 26% said it was just a local story that did not need national coverage, and 17% blame the lack of coverage on the horrible details of the case.

The disturbing part of the poll is how few people were familiar with the case. Only 11% of those polled said they were very familiar with the story, while 68% hardly knew anything about it.

It was not until pressure from social media and a few reporters from the mainstream press, like Kirsten Powers, that the media started to cover the trial. Seventy-two members of Congress sent three letters to network news executives to express their disgust with the lack of coverage.
