Mid-morning on July 8, the New York Times’ Ben Hubbard tweeted: “Two guys kicked me out of Tahrir, said foreign journos ‘forbidden.’ Didn’t care for press card or to call press office where I’m registered.”
Hours prior to being kicked out, Hubbard sent a handful of quick, Twitter-based reports on the number of casualties being brought in from the protests in Tahrir Square.
Twitchy.com pooled all the tweets together, providing a time-frame.
At 7:30 a.m. on July 8, Hubbard tweeted: “Cairo’s Zeinhoum Morgue: line of a dozen ambulances full of dead, most with gunshot wounds in heads and chests.”
At 8:03 a.m., he tweeted: “Family at morgue, father a doctor, brother a police officer, both said they’d fought with dead relative over his involvement in the Brotherhood.”
At 8:05 a.m., he tweeted: “All the dead I saw entering the morgue were young men, late teens to 30s. No women or children, but I wasn’t allowed inside.”
Finally, at 10:44 a.m. he tweeted that he had been kicked out of Tahrir Square.
